Tulsa Shoulder Institute is the research and innovation arm founded by Dr. Jake Checketts DO. Dedicated to obtaining research funding, performing cutting-edge studies, expanding educational opportunities for trainees, and improving shoulder care delivery abroad, the Institute exists to advance the field and deliver better outcomes for patients everywhere.
To improve shoulder care on a large scale by securing research funding, conducting innovative clinical and translational research, expanding educational opportunities for the next generation of surgeons, and enhancing and providing health care delivery in underserved regions.
To become a recognized leader in shoulder surgery innovation — where cutting-edge research is rapidly translated into better patient outcomes, trainees receive world-class education, and high-quality shoulder care reaches patients both locally in Tulsa and internationally.
Actively pursue grants, industry partnerships, funding from rural care opportunities and philanthropic support to fund high-quality shoulder surgery studies.
Perform clinical, biomechanical, and translational research focused on muscle-preserving techniques, robotics, augmented reality, long-term outcomes, and value-based care. In addition, we aim to rapidly bring proven innovations and evidence-based techniques directly into clinical care for the benefit of patients in Tulsa and beyond.
Develop advanced training programs, surgical skills labs, courses, and mentorship opportunities for orthopedic residents, fellows, and practicing surgeons.
