Dr. Checketts graduated from medical school at Oklahoma State University after being inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi, meaning he was at the top of his class and upheld the highest standards during his medical studies.

Dr. Checketts graduated from orthopaedic surgery residency from Oklahoma State University Medical Center after being chief resident. Dr. Checketts was also awarded the distinction of being the National Resident of the Year in Orthopaedic Surgery by the AOAO/AOF demonstrating his commitment to patient care and research excellence.

Dr. Checketts was accepted into the University of Washington - Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship Program under the direction of Dr. Frederick Matsen III MD and Dr. Jason Hsu MD. This is one of the longest standing and most prestigious shoulder and elbow fellowships in the world. Dr. Matsen literally wrote the book on shoulder surgery.
